Meet S3Z Miriam and Charlie

Charlie and Miriam Hans are the founders of Support Sustain Succeed Zambia (S3Z). They were married in 1999 and have 3 children and two grandchildren. Charlie grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and recently retired from the United States Air Force after 25 years of service and currently works for a commercial airline. Miriam grew up in Ndola, Zambia, Africa where her parents were missionaries from 1976-1991. Both Charlie and Miriam have volunteered in their local prisons for the past 11 years. In 2011, Charlie, Miriam and their children took a family mission trip to Zambia to serve with Prison Fellowship International Zambia and Jubilee Centre, an organization that serves churches and individuals in under-resourced communities. It was during that trip that they met Peter Chikoseleshi, a local pastor of a church, who also runs a community primary school for orphaned and vulnerable children. They developed a close relationship with him during that trip that has continued until now. Throughout the years, Charlie and Miriam became involved in the work that Peter was already doing in his community, yet they decided they wanted to do even more. In January 2020, Support Sustain Succeed Zambia (S3Z) was officially formed as a 501(c)(3). They joined in partnership with Peter’s non-governmental organization, Advocacy and Development for the Poor (ADP) in order that many lives would be positively affected by bringing more awareness, care, education, and support to the orphaned and vulnerable children and impoverished individuals in Zambia.
